Programs with Heart
My work isn't just a job or a career—it's a calling. I didn't have a conventional start. I dropped out of high school and became a business small owner (1996). After misdeeds by my business partner, I soon realized I needed a formal education and went back to school.
When I took my first college class on management, I was shocked at how many people who hadn't even had a job were taking a course on management. I remember thinking, "How can you learn how to manage people and eventually lead if you have no context of the material's applications?"
Key point being "context of application" also known as transfer of training.
I spent the rest of my college career, much to the frustration of my professors, persistently asking, "How does this apply to the job?" These life experiences rooted in passion and curiosity are the foundation of all the work I do.
My Professional Journey
1
Business Consulting
I began as a small business consultant in 2001, supporting small businesses ready to scale yet lacking the infrastructure to grow. Later moved to midsize enterprises wanting to scale to sell.
2
Coaching
After dropping out of high school, I went to beauty school and bought into a full-service salon. While doing hair, I often felt like a counselor and decided to become a therapist, completing a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. During my internship, I discovered I was very goal-oriented and realized coaching was a better path for my unique talents.
3
Senior Leadership
I began focusing my work with senior levels of leadership while providing consulting services and implementing change initiatives. I quickly learned engagement with senior leadership was essential for successful implementation and outcomes. Training does not transfer if leadership is not on board!
4
Formal Coach Training
I began teaching leaders basic formal coaching skills with tremendous results. Now I provide specialized coach training specifically for leaders to develop hardy and resilient teams and an organizational culture of wellness and community engagement.
A Promise Made with Love
In 2004, the trajectory of my career shifted with a phone call from my cousin Sgt Glyn Elias, returning from his second tour in Iraq. He called me crying. His 3rd friend that month had died by suicide. He pleaded with me to help; he insisted that I promise.
That promise, made with love, changed the course of my career.
Inspired by Glyn, in 2006, I went to my first Center for Deployment Psychology training. I returned to train mental health professionals in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for War Related PTSD. I worked closely with military personnel and their families assisting with reintegration.
I went on to combine what I had learned in my decades of working as a business and leadership consultant and coach with the unique experiences of military and emergency response personnel specializing in hardiness, resiliency, stress management, transfer of training, change initiatives, formal coach training, and organizational wellness.
2021 Milestone
I began working with Law Enforcement providing a 6 Week Leadership Group Coaching: Transformational Leadership & Crisis Response to mitigate the stressors of the pandemic, social unrest, and stress management.
I continued to modify my training programs and conduct research on resiliency, effective leadership to reduce the negative impact of prolonged stress, and permacrisis.
Closing the Resiliency Training Gap
Resiliency training is designed to help people cope with adversity, adapt to change, and overcome challenges. Resilience is an essential skill for police, military personnel, and first responders due to the constant stressful and adverse situations they are subjected to during the performance of their duties, making resiliency training central to their wellbeing.
In 2009, the US Army implemented a Master Resilience Training. In 2022, Walter Reed conducted an evaluation of the Master Resilience Training program, with a recommendation to shift to a coaching and leadership approach.

My commitment is to close the resiliency training gap by taking a coaching and leadership approach.
How to Work with Us
Coach Certification
Join a statewide cohort of 350 law enforcement professionals committed to strengthening resiliency leadership, operational stability, and effective emotional recovery within their agencies.
Be part of the movement building the next generation of coaching-informed leaders in policing.
Host Trainings
We are looking for first response agencies to host our coaching and training events within your departments to make our services easily available to your firefighters and officers. We will come to you and provide the coaching services and training opportunities. Hosting these events in house reduces overtime required for program attendance and removes blocks to services by creating ease of access.
Partner & Sponsor
We welcome the opportunity to collaborate and bring this vision to life. Together, we can support those who dedicate their lives to serving others and rebuild stronger, more resilient communities. We're accepting sponsorships to provide coaching support and training initiatives for Emotional Recovery for Crisis Response® as well as scholarships to train and certify coaches, mental health professionals, and trainers.
